February 22, (THEWILL) – A former Chairman of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Asue Ighodalo, has won the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Edo State
.
THEWILL reports that Ighodalo, who is believed to have been anointed by the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, was declared winner of the primary election by Zamfara State governor and returning officer of the election, Dauda Lawal.
Declaring the results of the election held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Thursday, Lawal said Ighodalo polled 577 votes to defeat other aspirants in the race.
Earlier, two aspirants, Barr Omosede Igbinedion and Hon. Ogbeide Ihama, withdrew from the contest before voting by the delegates started.
The results of the election as declared by the returning officer, are as follows:

Born July 19, 1959, Ighodalo, a lawyer and businessman, hails from Okaigben, in Ewohimi, Esan South East LG, Edo State.
