July 16, (THEWILL) – Dutch midfielder, Xavi Simons, has completed his transfer from PSV Eindhoven to reigning Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint Germain, according to an announcement made by the Eredivisie club on Sunday.
Simons, a former Barcelona Academy player, joined PSV on a five-year deal from PSG last year after his contract expired. The 20-year-old attacker, who made his professional debut in 2021 and helped PSG win the French top division title and the Coupe de France, has left PSV’s training camp to finalise his return to Le Parc des Princes.
During his time at PSV, Simons played a vital role in the team’s second-place finish in the Dutch top flight. With 34 appearances, he contributed 19 goals and eight assists. The midfielder has also achieved significant success at the club, winning the KNVB Cup, Johan Cruyff Shield, and the Eredivisie’s top scorer award.
Simons was regarded as an important player in the team managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy, but even the ex-Manchester United iconic striker himself has left the manager position at the Eredivisie giants.
