March 07, (THEWILL)- Christian Horner, the Red Bull Formula 1 team principal, has appealed for privacy regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding allegations of inappropriate behaviour. Addressing the media at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah on Thursday, Horner reiterated his stance, denying all accusations after being cleared by an independent investigation last week.

The Briton acknowledged the challenging period, stating, “It’s obviously been a very trying period. When there’s children involved, when there’s families, parents etc involved, it’s not pretty.” Horner expressed gratitude for the support of his wife, Geri Halliwell, and family, emphasising the need to move forward and focus on racing.

Horner’s accuser, a female employee, who has not been named, has reportedly been suspended on full pay following the inquiry. While the details of the allegations remain confidential, purported evidence was anonymously circulated within the paddock last week, fuelling speculation and media scrutiny.

Addressing the situation, Horner stated, “The grievance had been fully investigated and dismissed by a top, independent barrister.” He refrained from commenting on the suspension, citing confidentiality between the employee and the company. Horner also acknowledged the competitive nature of Formula 1, suggesting that some parties may have sought to benefit from the situation.

The controversy has sparked speculation about the future of Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion, with rumours of a potential rift between Horner and Verstappen’s father, Jos. However, Horner claimed to have spoken to Verstappen after the Bahrain Grand Prix, congratulating him on his performance.
