Troops Neutralise 13 Armed Criminals, Arrest 271 Others For Banditry, Vandalism, Gun Running

March 02, (THEWILL) – Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a special military task force maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States, have neutralised 13 “armed criminals” and arrested 271 suspects for banditry, gun running, vandalism and armed robbery.

Deputy Commander of OPSH, Terzungwe Iyela, who made this known in Jos, the Plateau State capital, said the troops also recovered 1,161 ammunition and rescued 79 kidnap victims.

”Troops neutralised 13 armed criminals and arrested 271 suspects for offences related to kidnapping, armed robbery, gun running, banditry, farm destruction, vandalism and other sundry crimes.

”79 civilians were rescued from kidnappers and armed robbers, while a total of 100 different calibres of weapons and 1,161 ammunition recovered from the suspected criminals”, he said.

Iyela explained that it had charged 33 suspects in court, dismantled two arms fabrication factories and recovered 554 cattle from rustlers.

He expressed the commitment of troops of OPSH toward ensuring security of lives and property in the state.
