January 07, (THEWILL) – With the All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana fast approaching, Nigeria’s Sports Minister, John Owan Enoh, has called for a pivotal strategy meeting on Thursday, January 11. The aim is to bring together the presidents of the country’s various sports federations to map out a synchronised plan for podium success.
According to a Ministry press release, the agenda will focus on critical areas like athlete preparation, resource allocation, administrative coordination and expertise leverage. The goal is to harness Nigeria’s exceptional athletic talents across disciplines and sharpen its competitive edge at the continent-wide sporting showcase.
Enoh emphasised the importance of collaboration and collective action in optimising the nation’s medal ambitions. With many African rivals also preparing intensely, strategic alignment between sporting bodies is deemed essential. The Ministry sees this high-level gathering as a springboard for framing training regimes, coaching standards, selection criteria and winning mindsets.
Such a coordinated approach is long overdue if Nigeria is to translate its rich sporting potential into medals on the leaderboard. As the regional powerhouse, standing atop the figurative podium would also boost national pride and inspire future generations.
The clock is ticking and expectant fans will hope Thursday’s summit between the Minister and the heads of the various federations sparks the momentum needed for Nigeria to attain even more glory in Accra 2024.
