December 27, (THEWILL) – The Akwa Ibom State Gubernatorial candidate of the NrPeoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, Pastor Umo Eno, has sent his condolences to the family of the deceased couple, who were reportedly knocked by the convoy of his running mate and National Assembly member representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Mrs Akon Eyakenyi, on Saturday, December 23.

There is an earlier report that Senator Akon Eyakenyi was on her way to represent the PDP Governorship Candidate, Pastor Umo Eno, at an event in Uruan LGA, when a hit-and-run driver in a Toyota Sienna ran into a motorbike conveying a lady at an intersection, throwing both the rider and passenger into the right of way of the vehicle that conveyed the Senator and led to the demise of the motorcycle occupants, who happened to be a couple.

“Mr Kingsley Edet Ndon and his wife, Eno, were strong supporters of the PDP and Pastor Umo Eno, they were on their way to Urua-Ekpa, to attend a family function when they met their untimely death”, a family source told our correspondent.

In his message of condolences, Pastor Umo Eno expressed shock over the sudden death of his core supporters, hence the instant dispatch of a high-powered delegation from his campaign team to calm the nerves of the family members, promising to visit in person, before the year ends.

The delegation comprising political stakeholders from Itu Local Government Area was led by the member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Henry Archibong, Barr. Etetim Onuk, Chairman of Council, Chairman of State Secondary Education Board, Dr Ekaette Ebong Okon; Hon. Edet Effiong, Leader Itu Legislative Council, among others.

Responding on behalf of the family, the aged father of the deceased and family head, Ndon Royal Family, Chief Edet Okon Ndon bemoaned the loss of his only child, but thanked Pastor Umo for showing empathy and concern.

Before his demise, Kingsley Ndon was the Coordinator of Umo Eno’s campaign group: ‘Bo Eno’ in Unit 3, Ekid Itam AkpanObong, East Itam 2, Ward 4, in Itu Local Government Area.
