January 02, (THEWILL) – The abducted Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Isa Andaha and his political godfather, Adamu Umar Tanko, have regained freedom from their abductors.
Andaha and Tanko were kidnapped on Monday night, by gunmen at Ningo village, along Andaha-Akwanga Road.
Earlier, a family source told newsmen that negotiations are ongoing between the family and the kidnappers, who demanded N10m ransom for their release.
However, a report by The Nation said the N10m was paid to the kidnappers before they were released.
A member of the State Working Committee of the APC from Akwanga Local Government confirmed the development.
The source said the Council Chairman and his political godfather have been reunited with their families.
The State Police Command has not issued any statement on the release of the Council boss.
Earlier, Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said security operatives were on the trail of the abductors.
