December 06, (THEWILL) – Luis Suarez is reportedly expected to sign with Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami in the coming weeks. The 36-year-old striker will reunite with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba in Miami.
Suarez had intended to join Inter Miami over the summer but remained under contract with Brazilian club Gremio until 2024. However, his contract contained a release clause allowing him to exit. After playing his final match with Gremio on Saturday, Suarez bid farewell to the club on social media.
Suarez will complete his move to the Florida-based MLS club Inter Miami as soon as the Primary Transfer Window opens on December 11. League rules prohibit official announcements prior to that date.
The Uruguayan striker alongside Messi, Busquets and Jordi Alba in Miami, enjoyed tremendous success at Barcelona, winning three La Liga titles and three Copas del Rey from 2014 to 2020 before Suarez moved to Atletico Madrid.
Inter Miami, co-owned by David Beckham, will be hoping the talent and experience of Suarez, Messi and Busquets can lead the club to its first MLS Cup triumph in its brief history. Miami did lift the inaugural Leagues Cup trophy earlier this year with the aid of Messi’s goals.
