March 12, (THEWILL) – Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday, led representatives of the Red Chamber to the State House in Abuja, to meet with President Bola Tinubu.

THEWILL reports that the meeting is coming shortly after the suspension of Abdul Ningi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District.

Ningi was on Tuesday, suspended for three months from the Red Chamber over allegations that the 2024 Budget was padded with over N3 trillion.

Speaking during an interview on BBC at the weekend, Ningi, who is the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, said: “We have engaged consultants to review the budget for us. We have some experts that are working on it line by line. We have seen the huge damage that was done not only to the north but the entire country in that budget. We are supposed to sit with the Senate President to inform him about what we have observed.”

While Ningi on Monday said he was quoted out of context because he spoke in Hausa language, at plenary on Tuesday, the Senate suspended Ningi for three months over allegations of criminal misinformation and breach of peace in the National Assembly and the country by extension.

His suspension followed a motion moved at plenary by Jimoh Ibrahim, an All Progressives Congress Senator from Ondo State.
