March 09, (THEWILL)- Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has sworn in Interim Management Committees (IMOs) for the 44 Local Government Areas in the State, with a warning that they should shun “bossy style of leadership.”
Yusuf, who administered the Oath of Office on members of the committees at the Government House at the weekend, also said that their performance would determine whether their tenure would be renewed or not.
He said in line with the Nigerian Constitution, the caretaker committees had a three-month tenure expiration period during which their performance “will determine the next line of action.”
He also reminded them that the administration had zero tolerance for unruly behaviour, warning that the government would not hesitate to invoke sanctions where the committees were found wanting.
“The committee members were carefully selected and constituted. We are determined to return the state to the path of progress and prosperity. Local Government Councils have an important role to play in this journey.
“You must embrace all and work hard to support our administration in fulfilling our campaign promises. You should be leaders prepared to exhibit exemplary conduct, not bossy.
“This administration has zero tolerance towards unbecoming behaviour. We will maintain close vigilance on the conduct of each and everyone of you and will not hesitate to invoke sanctions.
“In line with the constitution, your tenure is three months. And at the end of the three months and in conformity with your performance, we will determine the next line of action,” the Governor stated.
